You can walk down, rent 4x4 or book a horse or atv tour. It's a secluded valley with lo'i kalo, waterfalls, black sand beach, horses roaming free, fresh water stream, and rolling shore break.

There is also a park with restroom just pass the observatory. It is a great place to take a break if you are making the drive from Hilo to Kona.
My favorite beach with turtles swimming around. Both shallow and deep spots but protected by a breakwall.
