Yosemite National Park is the #1 reason guests choose to stay in Oakhurst, Ahwahnee, and Mariposa. From these towns you can be in the Valley of Yosemite between 1-2 hour’s drive, depending on your exact location. Bass Lake is also high on visitors list to explore and is a 10 minute drive from most Oakhurst addresses and about an hour drive from Mariposa.
Starting March 23, 2022 you can go to recreation.gov to make your required reservation to enter the Yosemite during peak hours from May 20-Sept 30, 2022. Plan ahead and set up your account to get your reservation before arriving or you will have fewer options for entering the park and it’s possible you could not get in at all.

If you are like many of our guests, you plan to visit Yosemite National Park during your stay. We just want to make sure you have all the information you need to make your trip as enjoyable as possible. First of all, we hope you're aware of the reservation system the National Park Service is using for peak hours from May 20-Sept 30, 2022. If you already have your day passes, great and you don't have to read further!
Here is the site for the ticketed entry: https://www.recreation.gov then find Yosemite National Park Ticketed Entry section. Read all the information carefully it is confusing and sometimes changes. Here is what we have learned but please confirm our accuracy by looking at the website.
Here are a few tips.
- First of all, go to the site and register before March 23, 2022.
- Day passes are good for 3 days after the day of your reservation.
- If the date you want is already full there will be very few passes will also go on sale on the first day of the month prior to each day you plan to visit. They will sell out quickly, so to ensure you get your pass, register ahead of time and go to the site prior to 7:00am.
- Select "Peak Hour Reservations" and make your choices. You must be logged into your account to put reservations in the cart.
- Select the quantity. You will only be allowed to select "1", but you have to choose whether you already have an annual pass, or you will purchase it at the gate. The day pass reservation is only $2, but entry is $35 per vehicle. If you don't already have a pass we would encourage you to buy the pass when you reserve. It will make the process of checking in quicker on the day of your visit.
- Then select the date, again make sure it is the day you want to first visit the park. Then select the time and it will show you the number of passes available for that date. Then checkout and you will be sent a copy of your ticket to print out or display on your smart phone at the gate. The ticket holder will need to be in the vehicle when you enter.
