Kayak Pottsburg creek
I will explain the basics of kayaking, and provide you with the equipment you need. This tour is good for beginners, or for people who just enjoy kayaking in a natural environment. We will paddle up Pottsburg creek. This creek is more sheltered from the wind than the main St. Johns river. Most of the other watercraft on this creek are likely to be kayaks, as it is too narrow for most boats. I will point out any interesting birds or plants as we travel upstream. We will then return to our starting point. The whole experience should last approximately 1.5 hours. Please let me know if anyone under the age of 16 will be on the tour. Other things to note We will meet at: Pottsburg Creek Boat Ramp, 8540 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32216. Do not go into the All Wet Sports building, as they are a separate business.
Golf Car Tour Jacksonville's Black History & Harlem of South
Let’s Explore JAX Core! Jacksonville has a rich Black American story to share and for 1.5 and sometimes up to 2hrs, this guided tour explores the “4 Pillars” of the Black community; those who helped shape this city and culture throughout the south. We will safely cruise Historic neighborhoods and explore the Black experience, learn how citizens of the first coast contributed to art, literature, music, religion and activism that yielded a movement of Artisans & Activists, Builders & Entrepreneurs. This gave birth to the "Harlem of the South" and to a modern mural exhibition depicting its leaders. On your tour, you'll learn about renowned historical figures who helped shape a national labor movement, visit Florida’s 1st Black school, and hear stories about the great migration of Black Americans from the south and their fight for desegregation. Who or What is Jacksonville? This tour discusses the city’s namesake and its founders; explores history as we look at stunning views of the St. Johns River where escaped enslaved persons found freedom just across the river into old Spanish Florida, now called The South Bank. We will tour monuments from the Civil War, Reconstruction, The Great Fire, "Jim Crow" era, the Civil Rights Movement from the 1960's and into modern times. Jacksonville and Florida is more than sunshine, beaches and orange trees — it’s historic too!
