From Hobart, the most distinctive feature of Mount Wellington is the cliff of dolerite columns known as the Organ Pipes.
Gorgeous views of the city and water from the observatory at the top of the mountain. Tip: Do check the local website as the road to the summit is closed in tricky conditions For the warmer months, we recommend driving up in the evening to watch the sunset. Drive time: 35 mins
Mt Wellington, Beautiful Views of Hobart and Surroundings, especially sunset/sunrise.
A trip to Hobart Tasmania is not complete without viewing Hobart from the top of this mountain. For the lovers of hiking, park at the Springs and walk to the top. Pack wet weather gear and check to see if the roads are open or closed due to snow. There is a bus that can take you to the top from…
Head to the top for spectacular views (if the mountain isn't clouded in) or stop halfway up at The Springs for a gentle walk out to Sphinx Rock, returning to the carpark for a great coffee at Lost Freight cafe.
A must visit location when visiting Hobart. Have a look out the lounge room window to make sure it's not in cloud before you head up. It's cold up there, even in summer. So bring a jumper. If your timing is good you'll even get some snow (yes.. even in summer!)
