Located at Cama Beach State Park, you can take boat building classes, rent kayaks and other water craft, and go hiking on the bluff then grab a bite at the Cafe. A cool historic place to explore.

Camano island is blessed with two state parks. Cama State Park is my favorite. They have an awesome lunch cafe and a beautiful community center that displays quilts from the Cama State Park Quilters. Head down to the beach to explore the reconditioned fishing cabins from the 1930's that have been completely restored and available for overnight rentals. The Center for Wooden Boats is the crown jewel. Beautifully restored boat house is home to dozens of wooden boats for you to explore and touch.

The Center for Wooden Boats at Cama Beach State Park is set in a spectacular, 433-acre waterfront location against a forested backdrop. It is connected by a mile-long trail to Camano Island State Park, a 134-acre camping park. Both parks are open for day use or overnight stays year round. Admission to The Center for Wooden Boats is always free! Some programs, such as boat rentals, have associated fees, and others have suggested donations. Walking the beach, exploring the boats and browsing the exhibits is always free of charge. The Center for Wooden Boats promotes northwest maritime heritage through education, interpretation and hands-on experience in building, maintaining and using historic small craft.
