This oft-photographed lighthouse was built in 1879 on a tiny, off-shore island, or 'nubble,' in York. It features a Victorian keeper's house with gingerbread trim and a lantern with miniature cast-iron lighthouses on its railing. It's so close to land you can view it easily from York's seaside…
Lovely lighthouse. excellent photo shoots the most photographed lighthouse on the east coast.
Just a short walk from our cottage. Enjoy the views, the gift shop, Fox’s for a lobster dinner or Dunne’s for ice cream.
I believe this is the most photographed lighthouse in Maine. It is a picturesque light house. It's a reasonable walk or a short ride from Long or Short Sands beach. It sits on a little island or "nub" at the end of Cape Neddick and thats how it gets it's name.

“Ogunquit`s Marginal Way is a 1.25-mile trail with scenic views of the coast, is neatly paved, and the treacherous cliffs are, in places, fenced. The path leads from the downtown shopping area to the fishing village in Perkins Cove, now an outdoor mall with jewelry, clothing, and candle boutiques.”

“During summer months, take a boat (via tour) to Wood Island and enjoy a guided tour of the lighthouse. Be sure to check their website for tour hours and availability. www.woodislandlighthouse.org Volunteer-led tours of the historic lighthouse and Keeper's House -- fascinating! Book a reservation early as they fill quickly (even a month ahead). Tour incudes the brief ride on the launch boat to the island. Also a very nice ~30 minute kayak from Vine's Landing in Biddeford Pool out to Wood Island. IMPORTANT: Pay attention to the tides & currents to time your kayaking so that you're not fighting the current through ""the Gut"" when you depart or especially when you return to Vine's Landing. A great ~30 minute kayak from the Biddeford Pool Yacht Club”

“7.3 mi (14 mins) Drive 103 to York Route 1A. This walk is just over a mile long, easy, scenic and unique. Starts down a man-made causeway and then crosses a mini-suspension bridge and onto a wooded path. The original Wiggly Bridge was built in the 1930’s and is the smallest pedestrian suspension bridge in America. Legend has it that in the 1940s the bridge got its name from a Girl Scout troop who said it “wiggles” as they walked over it. It’s a stop while biking up the coast and is easy to walk to from York Village nearby or while visiting the small public beach located between the York Harbor Inn and Stage Neck Inn. It’s also right across from York Harbor.”

“During the summer of 1933, on a warm evening in a renovated garage in Ogunquit`s town square, what was to become one of our country`s finest theatres opened its doors for the first time. Today the Ogunquit Playhouse continues to carry on its legacy as " America`s Foremost Summer Theatre."”
