No matter how many times we take the stroll to the base of the falls, it never disappoints. This is an easy walk that allows you to get up close with one of Yosemite's most iconic features. Highly recommend going in the early morning or later afternoon. Since this path is so accessible, it can become very crowded during peak hours. My favorite time to see Yosemite Falls is early spring when it is booming. However, there is something magical call "frazil ice" that happens in the creek below during late winter/early spring that is truly amazing if you are lucky enough to catch it. Episode 9 of Yosemite's Nature Notes video series on the NPS website does a great job of explaining this phenomenon.

Yosemite Falls is the highest waterfall in Yosemite National Park, dropping a total of 2,425 feet (739 m) from the top of the upper fall to the base of the lower fall.

beautiful falls, but does dry out sometimes. Check the webcam to make sure it is flowing when you are ready to go.

The largest of the falls in Yosemite, and a challenging hike to the upper falls if you're up to it. The lower falls are an easy hike, and the kids can get in the water at the bottom.
