This is a 4 mile round trip hike, with a 1,256 foot elevation drop. Wear sneakers, bring plenty of water, and enjoy the best snorkeling on the island at the base of the monument.
Approx 2 mile trail down to Kealakekua Bay. Great snorkel spot. Then 2 miles UPHILL. You need to be in shape and bring at least 1-2 liters of water per person.
This hike takes you down the mountain through forests and lava rock to reach the Captain Cook Monument and Kealakekua Bay. This is a constant elevation change so it is a good workout. Best to hike early in the morning and be sure to take snorkel gear and snacks!
A historic must see with great snorkeling! You can rent Kayaks there and if you go before 10am you can see spinner dolphins!!
Great hiking trail and a good splash at the end. Great snorkeling spot. Come early in the morning avoid the crowd. No showers, no bathrooms and bring wAter and food.
