Brother Joseph's work is incredible to see. His story is inspiring and his art is one of a kind. He crafted a whole world that you're immersed in when you visit. The pictures do not do it justice. This is the kind of place that changes you for the better. The statue of Brother Joseph smiling at his work warms my heart. Also, there was a lovely cat that acted as my tour guide when I went. I hope she's still around as she did a great job.

An absolutely unique, kitschy, Southern folk-art treasure. All the great sites of Christendom in miniature. Sounds crazy, but 250,000 people a year visit the Grotto, mostly Catholics on pilgrimage. If you happen to be in Cullman in the spring, this is a must with the blooming azaleas.
