Vermont’s very first state park, this lovely spot is accessible by auto road or hiking trails. Modest fee for day use in summer season; parking available year round. Great views of Lake Champlain across to New York. Treat yourself to coffee or craft brew along Route 7 in Shelburne and Charlotte or…
Mt. Philo State Park sits atop 968’ Mt. Philo. The 237-acre park became the first Vermont State Park in 1924. With breathtaking views of the Lake Champlain Valley and New York’s Adirondack Mountains, the park is a favorite of hikers and picnickers, and includes a small campground.
A lovely easy to moderate hike (or drive) affording spectacular westerly views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. We recommend hiking the trails for more of a "hiking" experience though it is perfectly fine to hike along the road. The hike is about 1-1.5 hours.
Easy hike up the paved roadway or choose the natural pathway. Either way, you will be rewarded with an awesome view of Lake Champlain. Close by and a nice hike.
