Built in classic style, the museum opened in 1998 and hosts exhibits from the ancient cities of Marion and Arsinoe. Well worth a visit!
Local Museum where a few hours can be spent. Polis Chrysochous means the town of gold. Many statues, gold and ancient ceramic were found in our town. The tallest statue ever found in Cyprus was in Polis (Unfortunately the keep it in Nicosia). Additionally, the figurine on our 1 & 2 euro coin was found in Pomos, "The Idol of Pomos" It dates back to the Chalcolithic period. Approximately 5,000 years old !

Larnaca's Archaeological Museum is home to a collection of finds from across the surrounding region dating from the Neolithic Age to the Roman period. The first room displays sculptures, mainly female torsos and terracotta figures, while the next room houses the pottery collection from excavations at Kition (Larnaca's ancient name) and Livadia, a village just east of Larnaca, with Mycenaean vases and a variety of ornaments in bronze, clay, and glass. There are also some Neolithic artifacts from Choirokoitia and some glass from the Roman era.
