best time to go here is at night. try the neon paddle car and walk thru the two banyan tree with your eyes blind folded. if you go 100 m to the south you will find plengkung gading, one of the gates to the Keraton area that is still well peserved. Looks prettier at night with spotlights on.

It is an amazing place once it gets dark with beautiful lightning bicycles which you can rent to circle around the square and many local activities (e.g. local food stalls)
