Awesome restaurant, try their Friday seafood bisque or their Red Beans and Rice. I even hear their spicy pimento cheese is pretty darn tasty. Their tamales are also on point. "One of Jackson’s premier live entertainment venues for blues, jazz and roots music, Hal & Mal’s is known as a family-friendly destination for diners seeking soulful comfort food served in an unfussy environment. The restaurant is particularly acclaimed for their soups and for hosting a weekly “Blue Monday” party with the Central Mississippi Blues Society. The kitchen is closed on Mondays, but the bar is definitely open." They have entertainment through out the week from small restaurant groups to large concerts. They also host Jackson's annual and famous "Hal's St. Paddy's Day Parade" which draws over 60,000+ people each year.

A don't miss in downtown Jackson with lots of local color! Live music most weekends. Jazz Night on Tuesday! Great greasy spoon food ... don't miss the hot tamales!

If you're downtown and looking for a hallowed, local hangout, this is it! Red beans and rice with some epic blues music on Monday nights--not happening during Covid, unfortunately--will warm your heart. On days and nights without music, there's plenty of local lore and evidence of great music hanging right there on the walls.
