The Catalan Music Palace is a music auditorium located on Sant Pere més Alt street in the Ribera district of Barcelona. It was designed by Barcelona architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, one of the greatest representatives of Catalan modernism.
The Palau de la Música Catalana is one of the most important concert theatres in Barcelona, and is arguably the most beautiful. The Palau (Palace) is a fine example of the best of sculpture, mosaics, stained glass and wrought iron coming together to form the best of sculpture, mosaics, stained glass and wrought iron coming together to form the UNESCO world heritage site we see today.

When you visit the Palau de la Música all your senses sit up and take notice, because every inch tells a story of modernisme, music and Catalonia. It was built in 1908 by Lluís Domènech i Montaner and is today a Unesco World Heritage Site. The Muses watch over the main concert hall, and on the façade you’ll find busts of Palestrina, Bach, Beethoven and Wagner. The programme, predictably, is stellar.

Amazing place to listen the best artist in the world. Do not miss the chance to see the amazing building. They have a nice bar where you can enter to drink a coffee or a beer.
One of the key movements in terms of architecture within the city has to be modernism, and the “Palau de la música catalana” is a prime example of that. The Palau was commissioned by the Orfeó Català choral music organisation to the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner in 1904. The first stone of the new building was laid on Saint George’s day 1905 and the construction went on for three years. The result was a lavish concert hall for performances of Catalan choral music. Other elements of interest in the hall are the floral motifs that decorate all the ornamental elements, both on the ceiling and on the stained glass, and the medieval-like lamps, rather more suited to a castle than to a concert hall. Other spaces of interest in the Palau are the chamber music hall, in which one can still see the foundation stone of the building, and the Lluís Millet Hall, which is perhaps the space that remains most faithful to the original design by Domènech i Montaner.

The Palau de la Música Catalana is a music auditorium located in the Sant Pere (Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera) district of Barcelona. It was designed by the Barcelona architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, one of the highest representatives of Catalan modernism. The construction was completed between 1905 and 1908, with very advanced structure solutions, with the use of new laminated profiles, a central metal structure stabilized by the Gothic-inspired buttresses and perimeter vaults. and with the application of large glass walls and the integration of all applied arts: sculpture, mosaic, stained glass and forging.
