Museum bars are often stale or clinical. Ours are both. Not really. We have two bars - one above ground, and one below.
The Museum of Old and New Art helped put Tasmania on the international map with a collection of eccentric and at time controversial modern art in bespoke art gallery cut into the side of a cliff, definitley worth a look.
A must for all travellers to be surprised and amazed of the museum of old and new art. Take the ferry and make a day of it. Enjoy the food and wine while you are there.
A Must-see for first time visitors, this mostly-underground art museum has a playful irreverent vibe, great food & a wine bar. For an extra special visit, catch the Mona Ferry from Brooke Street Pier!
One of the most famous museum in the world to display the old and new arts. You are not only can enjoy the art collections, but also can taste the delicious Tassie food. Easy to get there by 20 mins drive from city, and you have another option to book a Mona cruise at the Murray Street Pier.
Though currently closed MONA is just a quick 15 minute drive north on the Brooker highway. Why not take the scenic route though and take the famous MONA ferry from Franklin wharf.
Mona is the Museum of Old and New Art. The museum is a private collection owned by the slightly eccentric David Walsh. The artworks and artifacts are extraordinary in themselves and furthermore the actual building is perhaps the most interesting piece of art in itself. The food and wine is excellent…

“A great facility just five minutes away. Just walk to the top of Wignall, cross Argyle St , walk a short way up Yardley then left into Thomas. The wonderful State is just the other side of Federal. You'll love it.”

“Located in the heart of Hobart, Tasmanian Botanical Garden is full of ferns, flora and fauna. Great for family picnics, reading books or just walking. Many plants and trees are from other continents thriving in tassie nature. Glad to see how native plans are being protected. The view over Tasman bridge is spectacular with shades and benches provided.”
