Sightseeing
This is a great hiking place if you haven't been there. It's 13 minutes driving from our Yurt, and 46 minutes of biking. It has several trails. The trail to the water fall and some trails are less challenging. This is the last bit of the big woods left in the Midwest. Remember the book "Little house in the big woods"? Yes, this was part of the big woods they lived in, from Wisconsin to Minnesota, covering everywhere we now live.

The college was built on the hill at the west part of the town with Carleton built on the east part of the town. Standing on Old Main Hill and the new science building, you can see very far. There are several trails that we used to go every year at the back of the college. Ponds and woods and wild life. Very beautiful and relaxing.

If you love hiking, you must walk the trails of Carleton. Along the cannon river, you can hike and fish and bike (I think you can) in the trail at the west part of the college land. The back of the college is also a must with ponds connected to each other and bridges and islands. It is beautiful all year round.

When you visit downtown Northfield, you must walk on the river walk. It's the most beautiful walk in a downtown setting, but never crowded.

This is the brave town where the people defeated Jesse James Gang. Every year in early September, we celebrate the courage of the good people with "Defeat of Jesse James Days" https://www.djjd.org/. Besides all other things you can find at a festival, Northfield offers "bank raid re enactment" for the holiday. https://www.djjd.org/bank-raid-re-enactments/ People all over the country come here. We also do a 5K, and 15K race. My family attended one year and I found runners from other states to come here every year. There is also biking even during those days.

They are super efficient serving the customers. Joyce is the owner and she literally greets every customer herself. A most beautiful and nice lady you will ever see.
