There are a number of pools commencing with the very top pool which has the crater pouring warm water from the ground which runs over rock formations, lower pools and tree root systems. This is a seasonal swimming spot which has free entry and is open from 7am to 7pm. Parking is off Victoria Highway. Enjoy a coffee or a bite to eat at Pop Rocket Cafe before or after a swim (open Thursday to Sunday 6:30am to 2pm).

This place has a special place in our hearts. Just a short drive or walk from the Hot Springs, there are picnic tables, shady spots to throw a rug down and have a picnic and access to public toilets. * It is not advised to swim here

The famous Nitmiluk Gorge otherwise known as Katherine Gorge is 30km outside the town centre (25km from Grey on Gray). There are many ways you can experience the gorge including walking, boat cruise, helicopter and canoeing. If you are lucky enough to be here in the wet season we would HIGHLY recommend the walk to Southern Rockhole (you can even catch a ferry there if you aren’t up for the walk). With so many options you can find the swimming hole and walk that's right for you. There is also a campground that you can now book and a kiosk open in the dry season.

The not to miss Leilyn (Edith Falls) is located on the western side of Nitmiluk National Park and is a 60km drive north of Katherine along the Stuart Highway. There are several walking tracks and swimming spots including the bottom and top pools (2.6km loop walk) and the longer Sweetwater Pool (9km return). With so many options you can find the swimming hole and walk that's right for you. There is also a campground that you can now book and a kiosk open in the dry season.
Located 30km south of Katherine where you can see limestone formations of stalactites and stalagmites and the chance of seeing five different species of bats. On hotter days it is best to do the morning tours as it can get quite warm in the heat of the day.

Another place that holds a special place in our heart, where we were lucky enough to celebrate our wedding with friends and family from around Australia.
Located 105km south of Katherine and 2km from the township of Mataranka, Bitter Springs is set amongst palms and tropical woodlands in Elsey National Park. These spring-fed thermal pools are an ideal place to relax and unwind. Its is only a short 500m walk and don’t forget to take a pool noodle so you can float with the current and walk back to do it all again! If you are planning to do a day trip you are more than welcome to borrow our pool noodles located in the storeroom. The springs are closed during the wet season, so please check ahead before visiting between November to May.
