From this, their ancestral home, the Habsburgs set out over the centuries to create a global empire. This is one of the legends about the founding of ‘Havichsberch’ (hawk’s castle). The forest in the area was cleared and the castle was visible from afar, symbolising the power of the aristocratic dynasty.
