Lek Seafood passes with flying colours the lore about patronage: if the locals favour it, it must have something going for it. The pan-generational families eating here - young children, mothers, fathers, grandparents - are testament to its quality. This is a restaurant clearly deemed a worthy venue for the hallowed family Sunday meal. And on weekdays too, office workers congregate here in ravenous gangs to sate the appetite they've worked up all day long. Opening Hours: 17:00 - 01:00 BTS: Chong Nonsi Tel: +66 (0)2 636 6460 How to get there: Take the Skytrain (BTS) to Chong Nonsi station.at 156 Soi Phiphat,Silom road.

Literally stumbling distance from the steps of Silom’s Chong Nonsi BTS Station, Lek Seafood is one of the most famous and successful local seafood restaurants in downtown Bangkok. There’s nothing fancy about the décor; on the contrary, the plastic chairs and cheap steel tables might be off-putting for first timers, but at least you know that’s a sign prices are going to below…which they are. Must tries include the salty stir-fried cockles (90 baht), yellow crab curry (250 baht) and the thankfully un-oily fish cakes (180 baht), served with a sticky and spicy dipping sauce. They also do all kinds of steamed fish and soups served Thai-style, bubbling away in a metal plate over a flame. Opening Hours: 17:00 - 01:00 Location: 156 Soi Phiphat, Narathiwatrachanakharin Road, Silom Tel: +66 (0)2 636 6460
